Who We Are

The 2025 Huskie Motorsports Car posed in front of a bright red N.I.U logo.

We are a student-led and organized Formula SAE team, with the goal of designing and building a Formula-Style open-wheel racecar. From there, we aim to successfully compete in a number of SAE competition series, where the car will be put through rigorous testing competing against other schools internationally.

Design.

Develop every system of the car using engineering analysis, simulation, and past performance data. Collaborate to optimize the chassis, suspension, powertrain, aerodynamics, and electronics for performance, reliability, and manufacturability. Design reviews and validation testing ensure that concepts meet competition rules and team goals. This phase lays the technical foundation for the entire build.

Build.

Team members building and assembling the race car

Turn detailed designs into a fully functional race car. Members fabricate the chassis, machine suspension components, assemble the drivetrain, and integrate electrical and control systems. They fit the bodywork, refine driver ergonomics, and perform initial shakedown tests to verify performance and reliability. This phase is where the car takes shape and becomes a competition-ready machine.

Compete.

Travel to events to validate your work against other teams. Complete technical inspections, safety checks, and design and cost presentations. Compete in dynamic events such as acceleration, skidpad, autocross, and endurance. Handle tuning, repairs, and data analysis between runs. This phase tests the car's performance, reliability, and the team's ability to work efficiently under pressure.
